Breast Cancer Research Action Group

Founded by Margaret Stead BEM in 1994, this dynamic group comprising of both patients and their friends, the Breast Cancer Research Action Group has campaigned tirelessly to improve the support of Breast Cancer patients. They successfully campaigned for government intervention in long waiting times for radiotherapy and improved radiology facilities and staffing across Yorkshire.

Their initial ambition was to open a dedicated Breast Unit. Before this, patients were accommodated on general wards. They succeeded in their goal, and the facility which was Yorkshire's first, was opened in 1995.

The group have raised over £2 million to date, which has helped current and future patients as well as funding vital research.
